From 5 to 60 Districts: Expanding Mental Health Services in Central Texas
From 5 to 60 Districts: Expanding Mental Health Services in Central Texas
Website Development and Dashboard Creation
What?
Designing and developing the TCHATT website and marketing assets.
Where?
Austin, Texas
Why?
To increase accessibility and awareness of mental health services in Texas schools.
Overview
The Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine (TCHATT) required a comprehensive digital platform to support mental health services across 13 Texas counties. My role involved designing a user-friendly website and developing a custom dashboard for Campus Liaisons and District Leads to manage appointments, referrals, school district information, and educational resources. This dashboard was essential for scaling mental health services to meet the growing demand across school districts.
The Challenge
TCHATT needed a website and dashboard capable of handling an influx of school district users while adhering to government regulations for healthcare data. Additionally, the platform had to be intuitive for users with varying levels of technical expertise, ensuring that it could be easily adopted across all districts.
The Outcome
After launching the TCHATT platform, school district enrollment in mental health services expanded from 5 to 60 in just two years. Funding nearly tripled, allowing for an expansion in staff and services to meet the increased demand. The dashboard improved efficiency in appointment management and resource access, helping the program grow significantly.

The Solution
I designed a public facing website with an easy-to-navigate interface and ensured it complied with healthcare accessibility standards. The custom dashboard allowed district officials to manage bookings and referrals while providing access to files, district information, and educational materials. A focus on simplicity and usability was key to ensuring the platform’s success.
Limitations
Due to the nature of the project, we were restricted to using a blog-style website with limited plugin capabilities. As a result, the platform had to be built entirely using CSS and HTML, which impacted the site’s ability to be fully responsive. While the project fulfilled its immediate needs, there is significant room for improvement in terms of creating a more comprehensive platform that allows for responsive design and the implementation of metrics. I hope that, in the future, TCHATT will transition to a more robust system.
