Basic Needs Center

As a Social Media Assistant at the University of Colorado Boulder’s Basic Needs Center, I focused on re-establishing its LinkedIn presence through strategic content planning, copywriting, graphic design, and publishing. I independently developed a LinkedIn marketing strategy, managed the content calendar, and created communications ranging from educational campaigns and student resource information to community updates and impact reporting. My work combined engaging visual storytelling with clear, accessible messaging to increase awareness of the Center’s services, initiatives, and role within the campus community.

Deliverables

From strategy to published work.

One communications project, spanning editorial planning, LinkedIn publishing, and original graphic design.

01 / Scope of work

One role. Multiple formats.

I independently developed a LinkedIn communications strategy, managed the content calendar, wrote and published posts, and created original graphics for educational, resource-focused, and food-related campaigns.

Deliverables

Editorial framework · LinkedIn copy and posts · Resource communications · Educational carousels · Recipe layouts · Campaign graphics

02 / Strategy and content calendar

Building a repeatable publishing system.

The original strategy organized content around the academic year, audience needs, five editorial pillars, and a weekly publishing rhythm. The original calendar is no longer available, so the framework below is a reconstruction from my strategy document, not a reproduction of the calendar.

Access How to use resources
Awareness Student needs and information
Community People and partnerships
Advocacy Broader student issues
Impact Activities and outcomes
Reconstructed weekly editorial framework
Monday / Engage Recipes, tips, creative and interactive content
Wednesday / Inform Resources, research, awareness, and impact
Friday / Connect Stories, events, partnerships, and community recaps

The plan also included monthly and semester wrap-ups, seasonal priorities, and exceptions for events and awareness dates. These are planning guidelines, not a claim that every post went live on the exact weekday shown.

01 / Plan Quarterly themes and calendar
02 / Create Research, copy, visuals
03 / Publish LinkedIn updates and campaigns
04 / Report Monthly and semester recaps
03 / Published LinkedIn communications

Strategy, written and published.

Selected published LinkedIn posts demonstrate editorial writing across food resources, student needs, fundraising, partnerships, campus events and timely service information. These are screenshots of actual posts, not speculative mockups.

05 / Contribution

Strategy through execution.

This work combined an independently developed LinkedIn strategy and managed editorial calendar with hands-on copywriting, publishing, community storytelling, and graphic design. It demonstrates both how I planned communications and how I produced them.

Attribution: I designed the National Donut Day, Spring Semester Wrap-Up, and Lemon Meringue Pie Day graphics before leaving, but did not write their published captions. Some prepared artwork was published after my active LinkedIn management period. No unverified growth or engagement results are claimed.
